Discover local authors at the Omaha Public Library Author Fair
February 06, 2012
While there are many ways for writers to get their work published these days, the bigger challenge can be getting those works to stand out among the competition. Omaha Public Library will offer an opportunity for local authors and publishers to tout their accomplishments at its Author Fair on Saturday, Feb. 18, 1-4 p.m. at W. Dale Clark Main Library, 215 S. 15th St., 4th floor. The event is free and open to the public.

The first part of the day will highlight various aspects of the publishing industry. Participants will hear from a panel of publishers: Kristine Gerber, Omaha Books; Cindy Grady, WriteLife; Greg Kosmicki, Backwaters Press; Lisa Pelto, Concierge Marketing; and Sandra Wendel, Write On, Inc. The discussion will begin with “Hot or Not? Genres On the Rise,” followed by “The Price is Right – Book Marketing,” and “Let’s Make a Deal – No Whammies,” to share tips on getting the best deal for your book. Each panel discussion will be followed by a coffee break, allowing time for participants to meet and talk with authors at the event.

The Author Fair will conclude with “The Dating Game: On the Spot - Discover a New Author,” where each participating author will be asked to give a three-minute pitch as to why you should purchase their book. Authors participating in this event include David Ayala, Jeff Barnes, Melanie Bollen, Jennifer Castello, Robin Leemann Donovan, Marcia Calhoun Forecki, Paul Hedren, Kim Justus, Jeffrey Koterba, Dawn Marie, David Martin, David Philip Mullins, Mark Musick, Ferial Pearson, Chris Raabe, William Ramsey, Hugh Reilly, Nancy Rips, Melissa Robles, Cyndy Salzmann, Pat Schneider and Diane Sullivan.

This program is part of OPL’s annual Winter Reading Club. Join now through the end of the month and read five books to earn a reward. Visit omahalibrary.org for information about additional programs offered at Omaha Public Library’s 12 metro locations.
